So this special is terrible and bad but also corny and I love it. Two girls disappeared twelve years ago and their "spirits" have been writing to a girl in the present about the dangers of GLOBAL WARMING and being eco and such. Well the girl they were exchanging with accidentally winds up in the school on a day off alongside two girls she's never met before, and all three are viciously attacked when the Earth's DARK SPIRIT possesses all the teachers (except the one punishing them for coming to school, he kung fu fights them like an action hero).
... and then they each get the same text message.

YEAH. Yeah they just transformed into magical girls by replying on their cellular phones. But I didn't watch this show for its great writing or awesome plot.

Somehow their transformation summons forth the two girls who vanished more than a decade ago... ! And they look their teacher in the face and laugh at him because he has gotten seriously old and they haven't aged a day. Now they're just the average thirty-year old high school student. Like Hollywood, but with better outfits.

Teacher gives the two missing girls (the only two whose names I know, Airi and Mika) each a shiny new cell phone. ... Why the hell was he carrying phones around for them for twelve years, uh. Creeper! Biiiig creeper. He threatens to bill them for it too slkjgh.

To his great misfortune, he does not get a tiny miniskirt to wear and fight the forced of evil :(
... and now for the other reason I downloaded this show.

HURRAY THEY EACH BEAT THEIR OWN MINIBOSS but then something bursts out of the boss' chests. But what is it, what is happening, WHAT COULD THIS MYSTERIOUS BALL BE? A mysterious ball made of ... something ... that erupted from the ground? SeireiYellow, Pink and Green have their ideas.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet your ecologically-friendly Captain Planet-approved Elemental Magical Toku Girls. Too bad it's only a half hour special or I would probably have to app one of them somewhere just because I could. They have also showed more panty and boobs than all of PGSM managed in 49 episodes, so. Bravo?

And then teacher breaks down into tears and thanks the Girl Spirit Squad for saving Earth. The girls bitch throughout the credits at each other, Pink demands back her youth, and before they can break up forevarz another attack happens AND THE SHOW ENDS.
... basically I watched this just to say I had. That and the really short skirts.
... and then they each get the same text message.
