As some of you are aware, I found a random horror movie at Blockbuster one day that seemed like it wound be a fun rental. The English title was Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman. The title in Japanese, as I learned later, was Kuchisake-onna. It was only the other day when double-checking the name of the actress who played Sonozaki Wakana in Kamen Rider W that I realized there was a sequel!

... though technically the second movie is the prequel. ANYWAY.

and now I spoil everything )

So begins the tale of the kuchisake-onna, who asked the same question of her every victim before brutally murdering them with her scissors, known for her face mask and long coat.

ALL IN ALL, I liked this movie! I liked the first one too, of course, but I liked seeing how this prequel rolled out. I got super bored of seeing that mask all the time, and I had hoped to see more of the scarring all the time, but eh. I LIKED IT, too bad! It will stay on my computer for as long as I desire ♥

... Spoilers! Maybe.

Thank you /m/ for the gratuitous spoiler images )

If I can ever finish filling out job applications, I will try to remember to write up my DEEP AND INTENSE thoughts on W. Maybe.

Man, people I know from other movies and series just keep reappearing when I try to download new things, what is with that! Now I knew that Kagami Saki (who was Maya in Kiva, durp durp) was in this movie, which is ... why I had been wanting to see it. I knew she would be there! ... I merely did not realize her role. Or her costars.

eight minutes into the film we meet Kamen Rider Het the second )

edit: This movie now involves everyone conspiring to turn the near moeblob into a hooker and Kagami Saki buying a lesbian hooker for herself. I don't even.

Dang that is a long-ass title.

Anyway, I started watching this jdrama because Oz was watching it, and she was commentating on twitter. Which made me remember that I love a lot of the actors in the show itself (Oguri Shun, Mizushima Hiro, Takeda Kouhei, Yamamoto Yuusuke, Kato Keisuke, I COULD KEEP GOING)! So, well, why not watch it, I said. It's bound to entertain a little.

This is the worst thing ever.

I say that because it's true. The plot was gutted and infused with 400% extra angst-inducing drama. I keep getting derailed from the plot by dudes constantly showing up shirtless and nothing is going the way it should did in the manga which I love and enjoy and... Instead of bawing over that, I choose to focus on the good points! ... Namely the shirtless ikemen. Namely Kouhei. But also the one role that seems to still work in live action.

Behold: The monologue of logic )

I HATE HAVING TO WAIT FOR 40 because holy shit the spoiler caps! Amazing! I could be SUPER GAY for Akiko right now and no one could blame me, because she has bigger balls than half the dudes in this cast.

My thoughts at present, aside from the whining, is that I really love this series. It's fresh and new and it just feels classic, due in part to Shoutarou's delusions, but it's the way everyone just fits together. This is a beautifully put together cast. The backdrop is perfect. I have not been this in love with a detective agency since the Rescue Rangers, and son you better believe I was in love with Rescue Rangers. Ask me about my VHS tapes, do it, I still have them.

The things I do NOT like about W are few! And having to wait tops the list. Second only to Accel. His regular suit is balls-all ugly and I wish it didn't exist. Trial I am okay with! But not just Accel. Ugh. It's bulky and I would even call it tacky, and when he stands next to W, who is just plain sleek, it looks... well. Terribad.

I also hate the group henshin sequences, because Terui manages to RUIN THE MOMENT by being outrageously over-dramatic. I realize that "henshin" is two kanji (変身) -- MORE THAN ANYONE I REALIZE THIS, okay, it is tattooed on my neck -- but that does not mean you can drama llama the crap out of it, Terui. Every time the three boys go into henshin at the same time, it is always the same:

Terui: HEN...
Shoutarou & Philip (in unison): Henshin!
Memories (overlapping) Cyclone! Joker!
Terui: ... ... ... SHIN.

o9" he ruins my moments. Oh well. Maybe Akiko will hit him in the face with her slipper one of these days and it will bring me joy. Even more joy than the slippering in 40 SERIOUSLY SOMEONE GIVE ME THIS ALREADY.

HEY YOU WANT SOME GODDAMN SUSHI DONTCHA DON'T YOU LIE TO ME I KNOW YOU WANT IT )

So this could all boil down to what the fuck, Genta. And thank you Jesus, finally Takeru is getting some personality beyond grumpypanys, I like that. So so much.

WHY IS THE HYPER BATTLE DVD BETTER THAN THE ACTUAL LAST HALF OF THIS SHOW

and that is taking into account the ridiculous talking discs! DANG. At least Kivat moved when he spoke and did things. NOT THESE DISCS. But do I care? NOT REALLY. Because this Hyper Battle DVD is kind of like a giant apology from Toei. As too is the Hibiki arc in Decade.

SHOULD HAVE BEEN CANON )

I always believed in you, Shounen. Even when you were a stupid putz who couldn't save a baby, I believed that this would one day be your destiny.

BY UNANIMOUS DECISION, I have begun KRW. My thoughts are scattered because inksome has been down way too long. sob.

+ I love the music! It's jazzy and smooth. I am 100% behind this soundtrack, because it feels like it fell right out of an old-timey hard-boiled Dick Tracey-esque detective story and then had sex with jrock.

+ What is this I don't even. REALLY. I mean. Really?

+ DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO RIDE WITH THE DEVIL? Why Philip, I never knew you cared. But I'd care more if you had expanded to IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT.

Baaaasssically I am a lot more sold on this than I was on Decade! And I love how dumbtarded Shoutarou and Philip are, a-and Akiko alternates between "kind of adorable" and "punch it with the brass knuckles". Which is its own brand of darling, I suppose! But Shoutarou is the Chip to Philip's Dale and now that I've said it none of you will ever unthink it. HA.

OOPS I FORGOT TO KEEP WRITING THINGS OUT

sob

It's not like it matters since my only real thought for these last few episodes was "Baw Akira bawwwww". 8( That and Hibiki has himself a mighty fine pimp hat and shades. Maybe I will actually finish this show!?
